~Vivid Vocabulary Requirements~

Vivid Vocabulary Requirements

• Your vivid vocabulary word is _________________________________________________.

• You are to do the following by _______________________:

o Write the word large at the top of the paper (at least 2 inches). Use a dictionary first to write the definition
under the word (if you can’t find the word in the
dictionary, you can use the internet).
o Color the word so it stands out (block letters work well).
o Draw a picture showing a scene of what the word means (3-D
pictures will get you more points-use scrap booking
supplies, cotton balls, popsicle sticks, construction
paper, Cheerios, etc to make it stand out)
o Write a sentence using your vocabulary word.(On the bottom)
o Practice saying your word, definition and sentence because
you will need to make an oral presentation to the class on
the day that it is due.

**It is important to be neat, careful and try to be creative as you work on this project. It is always a good idea to discuss this with your family and you can get some help from them on this one. I encourage family participation for this project. The main idea is to build your vocabulary so you will learn new and interesting words.

Headphones

It would be nice if each student had their own set of earbud headphones to use while on the computer. Last year we had so much trouble with the ones here at school breaking. If you are able to provide headphones, please label them and place them in a zip lock bag, which should also be labeled. Thanks for your help!

SNACKS

Each day I will allow some time for a healthy snack. Some examples of what students can bring are crackers, fruit, vegetables, cheese, etc. Students CANNOT bring candy, cake, cookies, etc. for a snack.

Water Bottles!

One more thing to add to your school list....a water bottle! Please bring a water bottle every day to school. I strongly encourage students to drink water throughout the day. I don't allow students to get up during class to use the fountain, so please be prepared to come each day with a water bottle in hand! Why should you bring a water bottle? Check out the link that's titled "Drinking Water and Children."

Girlfriend Time :)

Here are some photos of my dear friend who had a baby last school year. I'm sure a lot of you remember, because you wanted your "floppy friday" and it wasn't coming until he arrived. He has changed so much!

This was taken not long before he arrived.

The day he was born!

What a happy baby!

Camping

We have been on one camping trip so far. It was a new place for us, called Belknap Springs. It was beautiful!

This was the "Secret Gardens."

We had a campsite really close to the river.

My brother and our cousin being silly!

Bbq

This summer we've had some fun bbq's at our house. Here are some photos of dear and old friends (some friends came from my kindergarten days!).

Our favorite Ranger had her baby :)

Plaque and Tree

Here are some photos of the gift that I got from a wonderful class! We planted a tree in the front corner of our yard and the plaque is right below the tree. I see it every day when I water our flowers :0)

An exciting new summer recreation opportunity for Keizer youth is coming to three neighborhood parks in 2010. This first-year trial program will run 3 days per week for 9 weeks between mid-June and mid-August.

One day per week in each of 3 Keizer parks, trained staff members from Boys and Girls Club will lead neighborhood children in outdoor activities ranging from informal sports and games to nature study and art projects. The program will be open to Keizer area children in grades 1 through 6. Registration will be requied, and although the program itself is free, participants will be asked to purchase the $5 annual Boys and Girls Club membership; scholarships will be available.

Over the years, largely through their utility bills, Keizerites have made small donations designated for recreation. Until now, the City has not offered any recreation opportunities except an annual one-day skate park event. Currently amounting to about $3,000, these funds will allow the City of Keizer to contract with the Boys and Girls Club of Salem to staff the trial project.
